A very large and impreasive 68lb / 8 inch spherical shell/cannonball, which was recovered from a Victorian Naval gunnery range where the armourment trials for HMS Warrior took place. The ball is of an early type, designed for a wooden 'boxer' type timed fuze. Later projectiles were cast around threaded cast collars, for later brass screw in fuzes. The ball itself in in great condition for its age, having undergone a lengthy preservation and restoration. With a good surface condition, and incredibly stout weight, this is a must have leftover from the golden age of sail.
