These are placed under the string to prevent it cutting into the top of the bridge. Sold as a single protector, pairs or as a set of five. The normal technique for use is to soak the protector in water to soften, then fold over the top of the bridge in line with the string groove. With a dab of glue on the bridge side, it will stay in place and dry in the correct shape.
