They used nitro cellulose lacquer. Which pure guitarist like the most you can buy a neck like this from Germany and they are £500 ! Nut to 12th fret 325 mm .  Maple / Rosewood 61 neck. So they are a bargain at £85 they are drilled to fit Kluson type machine heads.
