TYPE A - MIDI over Mini Jack Cable. 3.5mm TRS to 5 Pin DIN Socket. To save space for more fun stuff modern devices are now using 3.5mm mini jack sockets to send Midi commands. There are two common ways to wire these cables, TYPE A & TYPE B. Standards have now been drawn up by the midi association and TYPE A is the accepted standard, but devices made prior to this may be wired with TYPE B or even TYPE C in rare cases.
