Fabulous vintage Folk art Brinquinho musical instrument from Madeira, Portugal. The brinquinho features five figures in traditional dress. The central male figure playing a cymbal and the four below each with castanets on their backs with bottle top rattles at their feet. The instrument is played by the pulling of a central handle (as demonstrated in my video) This particular piece is not new and dates to before the mid century (although the barbershop tape may have been replaced in the past) Height when extended approximately 62cm
