This decorative pair of vintage carved wooden Spanish castanets were made for the male dancer’s hands. The intricate design is repeated on each of the four halves and is emphasized by a rich patina. The set was purchased in Spain in 1955 and were not new then. The sound produced is as expected as there are no cracks or chips. I have used them as display in a bookcase.
