Vintage Gusle Lahuta. Traditional fiddle stringed instrument possibly from former Yugoslav possibly 40 plus years ago. I remember a family holiday there then and suspect it was purchased by Dad then, it has been on display in the dining room since. It is a 1 stringed violin in carved wood and unusually with the 2 original bows, one is shorter (approx 8”), the longer is 15 1/2”. The Gusle is 26” approx. Beautiful carving with horse head. In excellent condition as as children we did not play with it and no one in the family has used it as we were not musical! From a pet free, smoke free household. It looks to have been restrung by my step father (bows and Gusle) and does make a sound when strung.
